Something Simple.

Do things noncoercively (wuwei),

Be non-interfering in going about your business (wushi),

And savor the flavor of the unadulterated in what you eat.

Treat the small as great

And the few as many.

Requite enmity with character (de).

Take account of the difficult while it is still easy,

And deal with the large while it is still tiny.

The most difficult things in the world originate with the easy,

And the largest issues originate with the tiny.

Thus, it is because the sages never try to do great things

That they are indeed able to be great.

One who makes promises lightly is sure to have little credibility;

One who finds everything easy is certain to have lots of difficulties.

Thus, it is because even the sages pay careful attention to such things

That they are always free of difficulties.

-Chapter 63 of the Tao Te Ching

“I’m taking the weekend off,” “show your work!”… And the guy disappears for a week.

Way to follow my advice! Giving myself a bad name over here. Not that I haven’t been writing, but I haven’t felt like I should share it on the site.

I’ve realized over the week that showing your work does not mean showing it every day. Showing off random things every day has only made my work suffer. You might not think so, but I know so.

Here’s the deal, the new way things are going to go down here. From now on, I’ll be posting between 2-3 posts a week. Not because I’m not doing something every day, but because I need to have the time to work on something consecutively. That could be writing, research, reading, or whatever I have time for to get my next post out in decent shape.

Also, I’ll be focusing on inspirational and analytical works from here on out. As much as I want to share the RPG and other stuff, it just doesn’t fit into what I want to have on Joski. That doesn’t mean I won’t be sharing ANYTHING like that; it just won’t be my focus here.

You’ll still get some horror/game stuff here and there, but probably not every week (unless something grabs my mind for a while).

Now, you might be wondering what the quote is about. The Dao De Ching is one of my favorite/most sacred books. It’s a work that I come back to repeatedly for the last few years of my life, always offering me some wisdom that calms the mind.

Unfortunately (fortunately?), the quote is for you to decipher, but do the small things and watch what happens. I’ll be sharing more Tao stuff in the future.

Anyways, that’s the update. Work for the site is still being discussed and will take more time than I thought, but the aesthetics will change eventually (not going to worry too much about it, it’ll happen when it happens). Look forward to the new posts; I’ll make a proper schedule some time. Until then, I hope you enjoy the content!
